Learn what makes your heart beat.

My favourite things to collect are memories. I love to journal and write my ideas in small sketch books, adding collages and doodling characters. Recently my father gave me over 6000 old family photos that he had collected to add to my own very large collection of photos. They are an endless source of inspiration for my drawing and writing.

No one will disagree, there’s something extra-special about people who dedicate their lives to giving children joy. Writer-illustrator Anne Ryan has done just that, from her “Unforeseen Circumstances”, which she penned and illustrated, to her collaborations with writers Julia Louise (“Shadowcat”) and Carole Wilkinson (for the Sybil series),

This Ballarat local has been drawing and writing and making since she was a child. A self-confessed bookworm who lists Dr. Seuss, Maurice Sendak, and especially PD Eastman as her greatest creative influences, her creative work reveals an innate curiosity and sense of adventure.

In this four-week course, Anne shares the secrets to her creative process and practices, to help you discover your own artistic style through journaling and sketchbooks. You’ll learn to master a wide range of materials, including pencil, acrylic paint, inks, and watercolour, which will allow you to express yourself more freely in a highly visual way. Best of all, you will get immediate feedback on your work in a safe and supportive setting. It’s a budding artist’s dream!

Everyone’s got a story to tell. Isn’t it about time the world heard yours?
